Plastic pollution is placing a heavy burden on the global environment, including waste management systems and oceans。More than millions of tons of plastic are produced globally each year, about half of which is used to make single-use items such as plastic bags, packaging materials, takeaway cutlery and containers。It is unrealistic to completely avoid using single-use plastic products。

Despite this, laws banning single-use plastics are being implemented around the world to tackle the problem。To help companies in the industry understand the relevant knowledge, trends and related technologies, materials, etc., the Household Paper Council and the Hong Kong Nano and Advanced Materials R&D Institute organized a free webinar: Breakthrough Biodegradable Materials for Food, beverage and nonwovens products。
